I4H Final event – Smart Capacitating Investment: Paths to Resourcing Scalable, Sustainable Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

Save the date: 28 May 2026, Brussels

Over the final phase of the Invest4Health project, partners are intensively strengthening and validating the foundations of Smart Capacitating Investment (SCI). Current work focuses on refining the business and financing models developed within the project, testing practical SCI tools together with regional partners, and consolidating lessons from real-world implementation. This includes documenting success stories, identifying operational challenges, and demonstrating how SCI enables investment not only in infrastructure, but in people, communities, prevention, and cross-sector partnerships.

Close collaboration continues with eight regional testbeds that are piloting innovative approaches such as youth mental health programmes, telemedicine solutions, workplace health promotion, and social prescribing models. These practical experiences are generating concrete evidence on enabling conditions, governance arrangements, and financing combinations that support effective and equitable prevention. The results contribute to a robust value proposition for policymakers, investors, and delivery partners, and form the basis for wider adoption.

The knowledge and tools generated through this work are being consolidated into practical guidance and transferable instruments for broader European use, showing that SCI is not only a concept, but an operational and scalable investment approach for regions seeking to embed prevention and equity into long-term system financing.

The Invest4Health Final Event on 28 May 2026 in Brussels, organised under the Horizon Europe framework, is therefore designed not as a traditional project closing conference, but as a mobilisation and transition event. Its purpose is to move from project results to practical uptake, partnerships, and scaling pathways. The conference will present project outcomes and testbed experiences, while actively engaging policymakers, regions, and financing actors in next-step opportunities.

The event will also feature the launch of a joint White Paper developed with the Transforming Health and Care Systems European Partnership, outlining strategic options for future European and national investment in prevention and health promotion. By bringing together European institutions, national and regional authorities, financing organisations, investors, community partners, and academic experts, the Final Event aims to build alignment, commitment, and collaboration for the next phase of Smart Capacitating Investment implementation across Europe.
